Tate Reeves

Biography

Reeves was elected governor in 2019 after serving as treasurer and then lieutenant governor. Under his leadership, the state of Mississippi successfully defended a state law limiting abortion at 15 weeks in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization U.S. Supreme Court case. The case resulted in the overturning of Roe v. Wade, restoring the right of the people and their elected leaders to protect unborn children and their mothers in the law. Just under a year later, 25 states now have laws protecting life between conception and 12 weeks, with the potential to impact 200,000 lives a year.

A Rankin County native, Reeves is a graduate of Florence High School and an honors graduate of Millsaps College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics. He and his wife Elee are the proud parents of three daughters, Tyler, Emma, and Maddie.
