D.C. Abortion Bailout: An Increase in Lives Lost

The House of Representatives is currently considering whether or not to take-up President Obama’s recommendation that taxpayer funds be used to fund abortion. In his 2009-2010 budget proposal, President Obama called for the repeal of the Dornan Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer funding of abortion in Washington D.C. (with exceptions in cases of the health of the mother, rape or incest).

This latest demand in the abortion bailout comes with serious consequences. The Guttmacher Institute, the research arm of Planned Parenthood, has consistently found that when public funding for abortion is not available, 30% fewer women who receive Medicaid seek abortions. These funding restrictions save lives!

Without restrictions on taxpayer funding of abortion, the numbers suggest a rise in abortions will follow.

Already in Washington D.C., almost one half of all pregnancies end in abortion. That’s approximately 7,200 abortions a year.

The loss of one life is tragic. Imagine the overwhelming loss we face if our hard-earned tax dollars are allowed to fund the destruction of human life.

Your voice can make a difference in stopping the D.C. Abortion Bailout and in protecting countless unborn children.
