Making life a priority for RNC
By Russ Jones

A conservative political organization in encouraging pro-lifers to take action in ensuring that the next chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) boldly promotes the right to life.

In a recent debate co-sponsored by Americans for Tax Reform, The Daily Caller and the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List), questions were posed to the RNC candidates concerning their positions on life and traditional marriage, as well as their plans to promote those values as RNC chairman.

Former Colorado Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, project director for the “Votes Have Consequences” campaign with the SBA List, says the current RNC chair, Michael Steele, is not as supportive of pro-life issues as some would like to see.

Marilyn Musgrave (former Colorado congresswoman)”He’s made some statements that I feel…didn’t convey a strong pro-life stance,” she notes. “And having been a candidate in many elections — I was in the state House, the state Senate and in Congress — we can be proud of our pro-life stance.”

Musgrave goes on to point out that right-to-life supporters are historically active in the electoral process, so the RNC chair needs to give more credence to this group.

“[The] pro-life stand was a winning issue in November in 2010, and we want to see the [Republican] Party run in a way that again is very respectful of pro-life Americans all over, in every state of the union that have worked very hard to elect pro-life candidates,” the project director adds.

So the SBA List has launched a grassroots action center, where activists can lobby RNC members in their respective states.
