“Last month the Susan B. Anthony List was pleased to see the court throw out Steve Driehaus’ frivolous ‘loss of livelihood’ suit. It is frustrating to see this ex-Congressman once again using the court system to drain valuable resources and staff time, especially knowing that he should never have started this legal battle in the first place. We hope to soon see the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals concur with Judge Timothy Black who ultimately affirmed the  First Amendment and the Constitutional right of people to speak out against their elected officials.”

— SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser reacting to news that former Representative Steve Driehaus has filed an appeal to a federal district court judge’s dismissal of his lawsuit against the SBA List. Last month, Judge Timothy Black dismissed the two year case on First Amendment grounds. Driehaus’ defamation lawsuit alleged that SBA List cost him his job and a “loss of livelihood” by educating constituents about his vote in favor of taxpayer funding of abortion in the health care bill.
