SBA List Praises House Pro-life Leaders for Launching Planned Parenthood Investigation, Slams Democrats Dannenfelser:
“Ending the peddling of the body parts of children should be an easy call for all candidates of either party. Clinton’s silence speaks.”
Washington, D.C – Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) praised House Republican Leadership this afternoon for speaking out against Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion provider. Echoing calls from Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), the Energy and Commerce committee, chaired by Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), and Judiciary Committee, chaired by Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), announced they will launch investigations.
The action comes in response to an undercover video released yesterday by the pro-life Center for Medical Progress, showing Planned Parenthood’s Senior Director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, describing how the group’s abortion practitioners allegedly use the banned partial birth abortion procedure to harvest and sell the body parts of aborted children, including hearts, lungs, liver, and heads.
“In taking this action, the pro-life Leadership is living up to its name. In contrast to Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party’s indifference, the Republican Congressional Leadership is unified in its determination to investigate and end a hideous and inhumane practice. Ending the peddling of the body parts of children should be an easy call for all candidates of either party. Clinton’s silence speaks,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “We thank Speaker Boehner, Leader McCarthy, Majority Whip Scalise, as well as Congressmen Fred Upton and Bob Goodlatte for taking immediate action.”
“In a single year, Planned Parenthood destroys more than 300,000 children and wounds that many women. Trafficking in the remains of these babies is the grotesque collateral damage which follows their gross violation of human life. We support all Congressional efforts to expose the truth about Planned Parenthood’s atrocities and defund them of taxpayer dollars. We also encourage the Senate to move forward with passing the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Projection Act,” continued Dannenfelser. “The best way to end it this grisly practice is to protect these distinct and unique human lives from destruction. This is why 15 states have enacted similar laws to put an end to abortion after five months, when the baby can feel pain.”
During fiscal year 2013-2014, Planned Parenthood received more than $528 million in taxpayer funding, or more than $1.4 million per day, in the form of government grants, contracts, and Medicaid reimbursements.
