Washington, D.C. –  Today the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund announced its endorsement of Representative John Carter for re-election in Texas’ 31st Congressional District.

“Congressman John Carter’s commitment to unborn children and their mothers is unwavering. He has championed protections for the innocent and defenseless at every opportunity,” said former congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, SBA List’s Vice President of Government Affairs. “John is a co-sponsor and vocal supporter of legislation to end late-term abortions after five months of pregnancy, and he has worked diligently to stop taxpayer funding of the abortion industry. Sadly, his opponent is backed by EMILY’s List, a group whose extreme pro-abortion agenda is radically out of step with Texas values. We are pleased to endorse John Carter for re-election, because citizens of the Lone Star State deserve a congressman who is as proudly pro-life as they are.”

Rep. Carter has represented the 31st Congressional District since 2003. Previously, he practiced law and served for twenty years as a district court judge in Texas. Rep. Carter has co-sponsored the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act, the No Taxpayer Funding of Abortion Act, the Protect Life Act, and Defund Planned Parenthood Act. He and his wife Erika have four children and six grandchildren. They reside in Williamson County.

Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, visiting more than 1.1 million homes in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. SBA List is a network of more than 690,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
