Last year a Maryland woman Sandra Craine, gave a highly potent drug knows as RU-486 to a 16 year old girl Life Site News reported. Craine obtained this highly dangerous drug overseas via mail and gave it to a young girl who was already 20 weeks pregnant. The package clearly stated this drug was to be taken under a doctor’s supervision and in the first 10 weeks of pregnancy. The young girl took the drug and quickly ended up in the hospital in massive pain; her baby was born shortly after, but quickly died. Assistant State’s Attorney Kevin B. Urick said, “The packaging stated that a prescription was needed to obtain the medication and that it should be taken only under a doctor’s supervision..the pills arrive in the mail and (Craine) gives the packet to (the victim)..” landing the victim in the hospital two hours later.
According to News 11 Craine pleaded guilty in December to reckless endangerment by giving the teen a dose of RU-486. However Craine was not held responsible for the death of the unborn child Cecil Whig newspaper reported. Due to a plea agreement Craine has been sentenced to six months of home detention.
This isn’t the first incident that has occurred since RU-486 became available to consumers. “The FDA released a report in 2006 that received widespread attention for showing more than 1,100 women had been subjected to “adverse effects” resulting from their taking the abortion drug mifepristone, commonly known a RU 486.” Then last April, FDA issued a more recent report that shows deaths and injuries to women who have taken this drug; 14 women in the United States have died from taking this drug and 2,207 women have been injured by it which varies from significant blood loss resulting in a transfusion and severe infections, yet many women are unaware of these reports “despite mounting evidence that the abortion drug continues to kill and injure women across the globe.“
The FDA report continues to outline the severity of this drug which forces many to be hospitalized for at least 2-3 days and often administered intravenous antibiotics. Others developed infections in the womb, reproductive organs such as the ovaries or fallopian tubes and there is a risk that the infection can spread beyond the reproductive organs. Despite all these findings, Planned Parenthood is still found misusing this abortion drug. “Administration of mifepristone and misoprostol is contraindicated in patients with confirmed or suspected ectopic pregnancy (a pregnancy outside the uterus,” the abortion drug was given to women in 58 cases where they had an ectopic pregnancy. For an organization that claims to be concerned for women and their well-being, the only thing that seems to be of concern is profit.
