Today the Democrats kick off their party convention in Chicago. With a greater focus on abortion than in any previous year, it may as well be titled the Democratic National Abortion Convention. Follow us @sbaprolife for analysis throughout the week.
President Biden speaks tonight. The Democratsâ theme for today is âFor the People.â At least one Democrat-allied group has interpreted that theme to mean free abortions for the people â abortion giant Planned Parenthood set up camp to offer attendees complimentary abortion drugs (details at the Daily Caller).
Lest anyone get too excited, slots are allegedly sold outâer, filled. But for those who cannot get an appointment, Planned Parenthood recommends its mobile app (which dispenses abortion drugs by mail âcompletely free of face-to-face interaction with a clinician.â Their words, not ours).
Even the protestors are dressed as abortion drugsâŠ
Planned Parenthood rolled out its first abortion RV after Dobbs, the better to trawl the borders of pro-life states drumming up business.
Make no mistake, such cavalier attitudes toward dangerous, life-ending drugs are a mainstream fixture in the pro-abortion movement. Remember the abortion drug robot we encountered outside the Supreme Court earlier this year? And new this month, The Wall Street Journal takes us inside âpill-packing partiesâ where activists sip Chardonnay from plastic cups while assembling hundreds of DIY abortion drug kits to mass-mail across the borders of states where these drugs are rightly illegal. âProspective patients fill out intake forms online and mainly correspond by email,â the Journal reports.
Elizabeth, who described her drug-induced abortion as âthe worst experience of my lifeâ when she shared her story with us back in January, knows first-hand Planned Parenthoodâs idea of customer service: âMy entire experience proved that my care was less important to them than the $800 my boyfriend slid across the table.â
As Americaâs reigning king of abortion businesses, Planned Parenthood is hardly new to crass marketing stunts. However, a promo offering a free hot dog with every abortion might just take the cake:
The free grub will surely make up for the many other unadvertised, potential âfreebiesâ that go along with this offer, such as:
Women like Toni have learned through hard experience that the Democratsâ promises of âfreedomâ through abortion are lies:
When Toni McFadden walked into a Planned Parenthood [abortion center] at the age of 18, she didnât feel free. She felt cornered.
After learning she was pregnant, she was âterrified and looking for someone, anyone, to tell me it would be OK,â Ms. McFadden said. Instead, her boyfriend encouraged her to have an abortion.
âI shared the news with my boyfriend, hoping he would be supportive. He said, âYou donât want to keep it, do you?ââ she recalled. âI felt trapped.â
After she took the abortion drugs, Toni tells us, at first, nothing happened. When she called Planned Parenthood back to ask questions, they hung up on her. Several weeks later while sitting in class, she unexpectedly began hemorrhaging fist-sized blood clots.
One in 25 women who take abortion drugs will land in the emergency room, according to the FDAâs label. Who will be there to follow up with women once the Democratsâ National Abortion Convention is over and everyone has gone home? Almost certainly not Planned Parenthood. Most likely, that will fall to local ER doctors who may not even be aware that their patientâs complications stem from a âfreeâ abortion from a bus at a convention.
Some observers rightly pointed out that taxpayers are helping fund Planned Parenthoodâs abortion bus:
Some found the bus confusing (so do we):
More than a few of the self-identified moderate and pro-choice were rubbed the wrong way:
SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser, in response, has a frank message for the Democrats today:
âStop ignoring the real needs of women nationwide and show that you value mothers and their babies, not just abortion.â
The majority of American voters believe that unborn babies should be protected from being aborted when they can feel pain by as early as 15 weeks. As pro-life Americans, we cannot allow this killing of unborn babies to continue.
