SBA solicits cash for Lipinski
by Dave Catanese
The anti-abortion Susan B. Anthony List is soliciting campaign contributions for Illinois Rep. Dan Lipinski, throwing its assistance behind a rare Democratic member.
SBA President Marjorie Dannenfelser writes in an email that the group must “rigorously defend those members of Congress who have stood up for life—especially those who have bucked their party’s leadership in defense of life.”
“Congressman Dan Lipinski, a Democrat of Illinois, is one such hero who deserves our support,” she continued, citing his decision to “hold-out” in the face of pressure from then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Obama during the health care battle.
Lipinski has also co-sponsored legislation that would completely ban any government taxpayer funding of abortion, a regular point of contention between conservatives and liberals.
Democrat John Atkinson challenged Lipinski in a primary, but he’s now trained on the new 11th Congressional District.
The SBA Pro-Life America National Pro-life Scorecard is a tool that helps hold members of Congress accountable for their legislative records on life and that highlights leadership in the fight to serve women and save babies.
