SBA List in the Headlines – January 9 – 15

Conservative and pro-life media continued to cite the Susan B. Anthony List’s (SBA List) involvement in the RNC Chair race as a determining factor in the role of social issues and speculated on how pro-life Reince Priebus’ election might bring abortion to the forefront as the Party makes 2012 election decisions.

Later in the week, SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser published a RedState blog post aptly summarizing lessons learned in the RNC debate.  Entitled “The RNC Race and the Truce on Truces,” the piece concluded that each candidate’s ability to vocalize the pro-life mission and firm commitment to carry out that mission operationally as RNC Chair was a clear sign that some 2012 presidential candidates’ calls for a “truce” on social issues was not resonating.

Outlets inside the DC Beltway continued to sound-off on former Rep. Steve Driehaus’ federal defamation lawsuit against the SBA List over his loss in the 2010 mid-term election and Christian media continued to speculate on what changes Rep. John Boehner’s (R-OH) succession as Speaker of the House might bring for pro-life legislation.  But, with the House vote on health care bill repeal approaching, most coverage focused on the legislative battles to come next week.  A United Press International (UPI) wire story entitled “Abortion an Issue in Health Care Debate” quoted Marjorie’s take on abortion as the pivotal issue in the first health care debate and a sign of what was to come.
