20 Week Limit Advances in South Carolina

This afternoon, the South Carolina State House passed H. 4223, a bill to protect unborn children after 20 weeks in the state. The legislation was sponsored by Rep. Wendy Nanney, a member of the SBA List’s National Pro-life Women’s Caucus. Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser gave the following comment on the bill’s passage:

“The majority of Americans support this swift moving, popular movement to protect children from abortion more than halfway through pregnancy. We thank the legislation’s House sponsor, Rep. Wendy Nanney, whose efforts reflect the reality that women support this measure in even higher numbers than men.”

Last week, the Democratic-controlled West Virginia legislature passed a similar measure which is now on the desk of Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, a Democrat who describes himself as pro-life.

A federal 20 week abortion limit bill would protect more than 18,000 lives per year.
