WASHINGTON, D.C. â Today, the Susan B. Anthony List criticized a new campaign by the pro-abortion group, EMILYâs List, called âSarah Palin Doesnât Speak for Me.â EMILYâs List called pro-life female candidates âbackwards-lookingâ and criticized Gov. Palinâs support of authentic women running for office.”
âEMILYâs List is running scaredâand it shows,â said Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser. âClearly, in this âYear of the Pro-Life Woman,â which Sarah Palin helped make possible, women have found their political voices. Pro-life âMama Grizzliesâ represent the majority of women across the country.
The Susan B. Anthony Listâs latest bus tour, which just returned from 23 cities throughout Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania, confirms that women are rejecting the abortion-centered womenâs movement model. A Rasmussen poll this week shows that 53 percent of women think that âabortions are too easy to get.â The Susan B. Anthony Listâs candidates represent this majority of women.
âWe are looking for women leaders who affirm the best in womenâwho seek to include rather than exclude the rest of humanity as we find our fulfillment,â said Dannenfelser. âEMILYâs List is busy perpetuating what it purports to abhor: using women candidates with whom they disagree as punching bags. On the eve of the 90th anniversary of womenâs suffrage, the SBA List calls upon EMILYâs List to come to grips with reality. Our academic panel next week, August 26th at the Yale Club on that anniversary will explore the roots of why Susan B. Anthony has influenced our views and why EMILYâs List does not.â
Since the 1992 so-called âYear of the Woman,â the Susan B. Anthony List has elected 75 pro-life women to the U.S. House of Representatives, seven to the U.S. Senate and seven more to other statewide offices. At its breakfast event in May, Sarah Palin rallied the pro-life âMama Grizzlyâ female candidates.
The Susan B. Anthony List plans to spend $6 million on voter education in the midterm elections, including $3 million on key Senate races. The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of over 280,000 Americans, residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics. Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
