Pro-Life Movement Undeterred Despite 85 Attacks on Life-Saving Nonprofits
Washington, D.C. – One year after the unprecedented leak of the U.S. Supreme Court’s draft Dobbs decision, the pro-life movement is standing strong in the face of violence, threats and intimidation.
At least 85 attacks on pregnancy centers and other nonprofits have been recorded since the leak. In January the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution condemning pro-abortion attacks on pro-life facilities, groups, and churches. All but three House Democrats voted against it.
Meanwhile the U.S. Department of Justice has charged four individuals for attacking a Florida pregnancy center. Attorney General Merrick Garland, conceding that the DOJ has prosecuted more peaceful pro-life activists than pro-abortion vandals, attributed the lack of arrests to the timing of the attacks at night “in the dark.”
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America’s Vice President of Government Affairs Marilyn Musgrave commented on the anniversary of the leak:
“While pro-abortion radicals have committed at least 85 acts of senseless destruction and targeted our foundational institutions of justice themselves, pro-life advocates have been busy saving lives and serving women. More than a dozen states have enacted strong protections for unborn children. Working with leaders such as Governor Tate Reeves of Mississippi, who recently signed eight new pro-life safety net measures into law, we are putting our commitment to mothers and families in action. With gratitude to all our allies standing with our front-line pregnancy center heroes, we continue to call on the Biden administration to condemn pro-abortion violence and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“Here is our message to those who use violence to impose their violent pro-abortion ideology: You will not win. Love is stronger than hate. The overwhelming majority of Americans are on the side of life. Threats and intimidation will not deter us from our mission. We will not rest until every child in America is protected and all mothers are free from abortion coercion.”
National polling by Marist finds that 91% of Americans support pregnancy centers, which offer vital material, medical and educational support to mothers both during their pregnancy and after their baby is born. Additional findings include:
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America is a network of more than one million pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
