Dems Lie to Push Painful All-Trimester Abortion on Demand
Washington, D.C. – Tonight, pro-life advocates led by Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America shared their reactions to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address:
“Joe Biden’s State of the Union proves it is Democrats who underestimate the power of women. The majority of women facing unexpected pregnancies want to keep their babies – 60% of women who’ve had abortions wish they’d just had the financial security or emotional support to continue. Democrats tell pregnant mothers they can’t succeed in life and have their child, but when they encounter the loving support of the pro-life safety net made up of thousands of pregnancy centers and maternity homes nationwide, time after time they realize they can. Now the Biden-Harris administration wants to take that support away and push them toward one option as the cure-all – abortion on demand at any time for any reason, even brutal late-term abortions when babies feel pain,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA Pro-Life America.
“But something beautiful is happening. Women across America are telling their stories, speaking out against Biden’s demeaning campaign of fear. Democrats’ extreme abortion agenda is not empowering. The help and hope offered by the pro-life community are empowering.”
Janet Durig, executive director of Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center who attended as a guest of House Speaker Mike Johnson, said:
“I am honored that Speaker Johnson invited me to the State of the Union address to represent life. For almost 40 years, Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center has served thousands of moms and babies coming to us for support. It is one of many centers across the United States that provide resources and support to mothers, fathers, and families. Unfortunately, my center is also one of many that have faced ugly discrimination and attacks. In 2022, our center was vandalized and targeted, and the women we serve as well as our staff were harassed. I call for a society and government that welcome and help the brave women who choose life, not a government that pushes abortion and gives no other options.”
Ingrid Skop, M.D., FACOG, vice president and director of medical affairs for Charlotte Lozier Institute, said:
“As a board-certified OB-GYN practicing for over 30 years in Texas, delivering over 5,000 babies, I have never had to intentionally kill my unborn patient in order to protect his mother. However, in the event of a serious pregnancy complication, every state with pro-life protections allows doctors to intervene if a complication poses a risk to the mother’s life or substantial impairment of a bodily function. My duty as a physician is to balance the needs of both of my patients, a mother and her unborn child, and every doctor is called to do the same.”
Beverly Jacobson, a mom of a 7-year-old with Trisomy 18 and founder of Verity’s Village, spoke out:
“Instead of supporting mothers and children in difficult situations, Biden’s only ‘solution’ is to push abortion, especially for unborn children with disabilities like mine. My daughter Verity was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 in the womb and despite pushback from our medical staff, we chose life. Verity just turned 7 years old. She brings us so much delight and we love her fiercely. I sometimes think about how many families have been robbed of the joy of a loved one because they are sold a lie that a child with a disability is not worthy of life.”
Every pro-life law in the country allows necessary and timely medical treatment to save the life of a pregnant woman in an emergency.
Multiple post-Dobbs polls show that at least seven in 10 Americans support significant limits on abortion, including a new Economist/YouGov poll that found only a minority think there should be no limits on abortion. In addition, Americans overwhelmingly support pregnancy resource centers, with high levels of support from Democrats and Independents as well as Republicans.
