Washington, DC – Today, the Susan B. Anthony List, a national pro-life organization, launched a one-week, $10,000 independent expenditure radio ad campaign highlighting the strong pro-life leadership record of Republican candidate Alecia Webb-Edgington in Kentucky’s fourth congressional district.

“Alecia Webb-Edgington’s past leadership and pro-life values resonate with Kentucky women and families,” said Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund President Marjorie Dannenfelser.  “We’re proud to be able to share her record with the voters of the fourth district and look forward to seeing her achieve victory in next week’s primary. Alecia will be a great addition to the growing ranks of pro-life women in Congress – unborn children, women, and pro-life taxpayers need her voice in Washington.”

Excerpts of the radio ad script, which can be heard in its entirety here, are below:

Woman: Alecia earned a hundred percent perfect record from Northern Kentucky right-to-life for every year she served in the state house.

Man:  Well, just voting pro-life isn’t enough. We need real leaders who’ll fight to protect the unborn.

Woman:  That’s Alecia. This year she sponsored legislation to ban abortions if a fetal heartbeat is detected.

Man:  That could save a lot of innocent lives.

Woman:  No one fights harder for the unborn than Alecia. That’s why we need her in Congress.

Mrs. Webb-Edgington currently serves the 63rd District of Kentucky in the state house. Prior to serving there, Webb-Edgington worked for the Kentucky State Police as the chief information officer and later became the first female head of the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security.

Seven Republicans are running to fill this open seat vacated by Rep. Geoff Davis, who has endorsed Webb-Edgington. The primary is May 22, 2012.

During the 2010 election cycle, SBA List spent $11 million and was involved in 90 races, 62 of which resulted in victories. Successes included: defeating 15 of 20 so-called “pro-life” Democrats who voted for abortion funding in the health care reform bill, increasing the number of pro-life women in the House by 70 percent, filling the void of pro-life women in the U.S. Senate and increasing the number of pro-life women governors from one to four.

The Susan B. Anthony List and its connected Political Action Committee, the SBA List Candidate Fund, are dedicated to electing candidates and pursuing policies that will reduce and ultimately end abortion.  To that end, the SBA List will emphasize the election, education, promotion, and mobilization of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of over 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
