Washington, D.C. Today SBA Pro-Life America celebrated the passage of a Republican National Committee (RNC) resolution reaffirming the GOP’s bold commitment to protecting unborn children and their mothers following the historic Dobbs decision. The resolution was passed at the RNC’s winter meeting in Dana Point, California.

The resolution, sponsored by RNC National Committeewoman Tamara Scott, reads in part:

RESOLVED, The Republican National Committee urges all Republican pro-life candidates, consultants, and other national Republican Political Action Committees to remember this proud heritage, go on offense in the 2024 election cycle, and expose the Democrats’ extreme position of supporting abortion on-demand up until the moment of birth, paid for by the taxpayers, even supporting discriminatory abortions such as gender selection or when the child has been diagnosed with Down syndrome; and

RESOLVED, The Republican National Committee urges Republican lawmakers in state legislatures and in Congress to pass the strongest pro-life legislation possible – such as laws that acknowledge the beating hearts and experiences of pain in the unborn – underscoring the new relics of barbarism the Democratic Party represents as we approach the 2024 cycle.

In response to passage of the resolution, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America issued the following statement:

“The RNC’s pro-life resolution sends a bold message to GOP candidates, campaigns and consultants that in order to win in 2024 they must stay on offense by drawing a strong contrast and exposing Democratic extremism,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA Pro-Life America. “In 2022, too many GOP candidates used the ‘Ostrich Strategy’ in which they put their heads in the sand, pretended the issue of abortion didn’t exist, and let Democrats spend hundreds of millions of dollars distorting their pro-life positions and defining them as extremists. We are grateful to RNC Committeewoman Tamara Scott for sponsoring this important resolution that will put pro-life candidates on the path to victory in 2024.”

Tamara Scott, RNC National Committeewoman for Iowa and chair of the RNC’s Faith Advisory Board, added:

“The Republican Party has defended life, family and equal justice under the law for all Americans. Since 1976, the Republican Party has declared and reiterated the support for the right to life of all unborn children under our Constitution and it will continue to ensure equal rights for the unborn at all public policy levels – federal, state and local. We are proud to reaffirm this decades-long commitment especially in wake of the Dobbs decision in which the voices of pro-life Americans can finally be heard in the law. We urge all Republican candidates to embrace our party’s proud pro-life heritage and expose the Democrat Party for their abortion extremism. This is a key ingredient for GOP victory in 2024.”

During the 2022 midterms, SBA Pro-Life America and its entities reached over eight million voters across battleground states – close to four million directly at their doors – to expose the Democrats’ pro-abortion extremism and ensure a pro-life majority in the U.S. House and Senate.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America is a network of more than one million pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
