Abortion Extremist Michelle Nunn wildly out of Step with Voters

WASHINGTON, D.C.
– Tonight the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) declared victory when pro-life David Perdue defeated pro-abortion Michelle Nunn in Georgia’ U.S. Senate race.

“Tonight Georgia voters rejected Michelle Nunn’s abortion extremism. Nunn, who was endorsed by EMILY’s List, opposed even modest pro-life reforms including popular legislation to protect babies after five months – more than halfway through pregnancy,” said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser.

“David Perdue will be a strong voice for the unborn and women in the U.S. Senate,” continued Dannenfelser. “His victory tonight puts us one step closer to a vote on the historic Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.”

Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has pledged that if his party is in the majority next Congress, he will advance a vote on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This compassionate, modest legislation to stop abortion after five months is the SBA List’s top legislative priority. The measure is supported by the majority of Americans – women in higher numbers than men.

This election cycle, the SBA List’s Women Speak Out PAC launched the largest ever pro-life door-to-door and phone call effort to impact three races critical to building a Senate majority and kicking Harry Reid out of power – Arkansas, North Carolina, and Louisiana. The group also conducted grassroots efforts during the final weeks of the campaign and spent nearly $500,000 on a persuasive voter mail effort in Iowa. By Election Day, a team of more than 700 field representatives had reached more than 900,000 pro-life voters who typically do not vote in midterm elections. A complete By the Numbers fact sheet is available here.

The Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $15.25 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
