In Wake of Gosnell, Dannenfelser Commends Senator Mike Lee’s (R-UT) Call for Hearings & Investigation of Late-Term Abortion in America
WASHINGTON, D.C. – New undercover footage released from Live Action today shows late-term abortionist Leroy Carhart, recently celebrated at the Sundance Film Festival, comparing a dead child aborted in the womb to “meat in a crock pot.” In response, the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) demanded that Congress take action to address the inhumanity revealed in the late-term abortion industry. SBA List praised Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) for introducing a Sense of the Senate resolution condemning the actions of Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell and calling for congressional hearings and an investigation into illegal and late-term abortion practices.
“The abortion lobby claims that the Gosnell clinic is an outlier, but the footage released this morning by Live Action reveals once more that the abortion industry treats women and children as mere pieces of meat,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of SBA List. “Leroy Carhart, the most visible and ‘celebrated’ of America’s late-term abortionists jokes about using pick axes and drill bits to pull apart the body of a child capable of surviving outside the womb. How is this different from the atrocities that occurred at Kermit Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society in Philadelphia? Congress must address the multi-state breakdown of oversight in the abortion industry as well as the barbarism of abortions performed on children capable of feeling pain and surviving outside the womb.
“Congress must address its role in protecting the human rights of children late in pregnancy. The few, mere inches that separate a child in the womb from a child outside the womb should never determine whether its intentional ‘demise’ is permitted by law. Americans overwhelmingly oppose late-term abortions and the law should follow their instinctive resistance to this dehumanizing and degrading practice.”
