Rep. Keith Self

TX-03 (Republican)

Rep. Self has stood up against the ever-growing pro-abortion agenda of the Biden-Harris administration and the radical bureaucrats who are actively working to expand abortion access, resources and funding. Rep. Self has voted consistently to defend the lives of the unborn and infants. This includes stopping hard-earned tax dollars from paying for abortion, including abortion travel expenses, whether domestically or internationally, and pushing back on the Biden-Harris administration’s extreme executive actions on abortion.

Rep. Self introduced an amendment to H.R. 5893, the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2024 that would prohibit funds from being used to implement the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's (EEOC) proposed rule requiring employers to fund travel and provide paid leave for abortion. He spoke in an appropriations committee meeting about this amendment. He also gave a speech on the House floor in opposition to the Democrats’ pro-abortion procedural motion to allow the Biden-Harris administration’s illegal and immoral abortion travel policy at the Department of Defense.

In a hearing, Rep. Self asked Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough for a report about VA training videos that suggested abortion was the safest option for women. He sent a letter to Washington D.C.’s Chief Medical Examiner, demanding autopsies of the D.C. Five. The D.C. Five are the five children whose bodies were found outside a notorious late-term abortion clinic in Washington, D.C.. It is likely that federal laws—the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban and the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act—were violated in the deaths of these babies. Rep. Self also gave an impassioned speech about the D.C. Five on the House floor where he called out the brutality of late-term abortion and advocated for the protection of unborn children. Rep. Self spoke on the House floor in support of H.R. 6918, the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act, which would stop the Biden-Harris administration’s policy stripping Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funding from pregnancy centers, and of H.R. 6914, the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act, which would ensure students at colleges and universities are made aware of the rights and resources available to pregnant and parenting students. During a committee hearing, Rep. Self exposed the Biden-Harris administration’s use of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act to target peaceful pro-life protesters and highlighted how extreme abortion policies in America are.
