Representative Bill Cassidy, considered Louisiana’s top pro-life challenger to abortion extremist Senator Mary Landrieu, responded to his 17-year-old daughter’s unexpected pregnancy as a supportive father. On July 3 he told the New Orleans Times-Picayune:
Earlier this year, Laura and I learned we will become grandparents this summer. Our children have been the greatest blessing of our lives and we welcome our grandchild as a joyous addition to our family. Our daughter now faces a more challenging future than her peers. She has our unconditional love and support.
Bill and Laura Cassidy’s decision to surround their daughter and her unborn child with love and support is an excellent example of how society should welcome new life. It also reflects the sincerity of Bill Cassidy’s strong pro-life stance. He is currently working in Congress to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would save 15,000 babies a year from excruciatingly painful late abortions.
The SBA Pro-Life America National Pro-life Scorecard is a tool that helps hold members of Congress accountable for their legislative records on life and that highlights leadership in the fight to serve women and save babies.
