Will Gov. Bullock Stand with the Innocent, or for Infanticide?Ā
Washington, D.C. ā Today the Montana legislature passed the Montana Born-Alive Infant Protection Act, legislation to protect babies born alive in failed abortions, sending it to Governor Steve Bullockās desk. The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) praised the billās passage in a statement:Ā
āWe thank the Montana legislature for taking a firm stand against infanticide,ā said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser.Ā āMontana citizens are appalled by the extreme agenda on display in New York, Virginia, and several other states, as well as by Democratic Party leaders in Congress who have repeatedly blocked this compassionate, popular legislation at the federal level. It is no wonder Montana lawmakers took action of their own to protect vulnerable babies who survive abortions. Now all eyes are on Governor Bullock: will he stand with innocent children and with his constituents, or with the extremists pushing abortion on demand through birth and even infanticide?ā
Nearly 200 members of Congress have signed a discharge petition filed by House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA)Ā to hold a vote on theĀ Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. House Democratic Party leaders have refused more than 30 requests by members to vote on the bill. If a majority of representatives sign the petition, it will force a vote by the full House.
Nationwide pollingĀ released byĀ SBA ListĀ finds thatĀ 77 percent of votersĀ support legislation to ensure that a baby who survives a failed abortion be given the same medical treatment as any other baby born prematurely at the same age (55 percent strongly support.)
In his State of the Union address, President Donald TrumpĀ called outĀ the Democratic Party for their support of late-term abortion and even infanticide, following efforts inĀ New YorkĀ andĀ VirginiaĀ to legalize abortion on demand through birth.
