As we witnessed the Democratic National Convention (DNC), or as some have dubbed it, the Democratic National Abortion Convention, in Chicago took a chilling turn, transforming from a political gathering into something resembling a horror fest. The event, which should have been a platform for discussing the nation’s most pressing issues, has instead become a celebration of the termination of life as though it were a God-given right.
The placement of Planned Parenthood’s free-abortion-and-vasectomy bus just outside the convention arena is not just a political statement—it’s a sickening celebration of what can only be described as the dehumanization of life itself. There was a time, not that long ago in the 1990s, when the Democratic Party, President Bill Clinton himself, held to the belief that abortion should be “safe, legal and rare.” Now, only “safe and legal” remain, with the word “rare” noticeably absent. The Planned Parenthood buses stationed outside the DNC arena offer “free” abortion drugs, further minimizing what should be a deeply personal, serious, and life ending decision.
The image of the abortion bus stationed outside the DNC is haunting. It’s a stark reminder of how far we’ve strayed from a society that once valued the sanctity of life, even when faced with difficult choices. Abortion is no longer discussed as a tragic necessity; it’s being paraded as a fundamental right, something to be celebrated as an expression of freedom. A God-given right for some. This is not just about politics—it’s about the morality of our country (whose company is the likes of Communist China when it comes to the human rights of the unborn and their mothers).
Abortion, once viewed as a last resort, has now become a badge of honor for some. It wasn’t that long ago that Democrats, including President Bill Clinton, asserted that abortion should be “safe, legal, and rare,” a recognition of its moral gravity. But today, the idea of “rare” is seen as an insult, an archaic notion that has no place in the modern progressive agenda. The tragic consequences of this shift are playing out in real-time. Last week? It happened right outside the DNC’s doors. A place where people are supposed to come together and celebrate our nation and excitement around an election.
The party platform, which uses the word “abortion” an unprecedented 13 times, underscores just how far the Democratic Party has shifted. This platform does not just support so-called abortion “rights”—it glorifies them. The inclusion of abortion as a central tenet of the platform is a clear indication that the Democrats, specifically under the Harris-Walz ticket, have become the “Shout Your Abortion” party. This rhetoric is not just about protecting a right – it is about celebrating an act that many Americans still find horrific.
Perhaps most disturbing is the way in which this celebration of abortion has been framed as an expression of the people’s civil rights. Oprah Winfrey, speaking on Wednesday evening, called those fighting for abortion on demand as today’s civil rights heroes, saying that they are “the best of America.” But what about the police officers and firefighters who put their lives on the line every day and night? What about the men and women in the military who defend our freedoms? Are their sacrifices now less significant than the ability to “terminate a pregnancy”? There’s “no American dream” without a right to end the lives of unborn children, Winfrey even said. What about their future and their dreams?
This kind of message is not just misguided; it is a dehumanization of the most vulnerable, the unborn. By elevating abortion to the status of a civil right, the DNC is sending a message that the lives of the unborn are less valuable than the political agendas on the Left. This is not the America that so many of us believe in, want to live in, and love. This is not the America that values life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all, including the most vulnerable among us.
As Americans, we must ask ourselves: Is this the kind of country we want to live in? Is this the kind of future we want to leave for our children? Do we want to look back at this issue as we look back at slavery? We need to do better. For us and for all future generations. The DNC’s celebration of abortion is a stark reminder that the fight for life is far from over. It is a call to action for all those who believe in the sanctity of life and the value of every human being, born and unborn.
The majority of American voters believe that unborn babies should be protected from being aborted when they can feel pain by as early as 15 weeks. As pro-life Americans, we cannot allow this killing of unborn babies to continue.
