Abortionist George Tiller Acquitted by Kansas Court

March 27, 2009

A Kansas jury acquitted late-term abortionist George Tiller on all counts. Tiller was accused of violating a KS law requiring abortionists to seek a second opinion from an independent doctor before aborting post-viability babies. Tiller had sought 19 evaluations from Kristen Neuhaus, a woman whose sole source of income was Tiller while she evaluated the cases he sent her way.

Throughout the trial, the prosecution presented only one witness – Neuhaus. Some observers thought that after Tiller stumbled on the stand and described Neuhaus as someone who, “was working for me,” the jury would perhaps find him guilty. Yet, the six jurors voted to find him not guilty on all charges.

Had he been convicted, Tiller would have faced a year in jail or a fine of $2,500 for each misdemeanor charge.
