Stanek Will Bring SBA List Pro-life Electoral Message to Americans Across the Country
Washington, D.C – Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List), the nation’s largest pro-life political organization, is pleased to announce today that pro-life activist, speaker, and writer Jill Stanek will join the organization as National Campaign Chair.
Stanek left a career in nursing in 1999 to become a pro-life activist after witnessing babies being left to die alone after they were born alive during abortion procedures. Her activism in Illinois spurred passage of both the state and federal Born-Alive Infants Protection Act. Stanek testified in the Illinois State Senate and directly confronted then-State Senator Barack Obama on his opposition to the law.
As National Campaign Chair, Stanek will travel the country on behalf of SBA List, working to build support for the group’s aggressive campaign strategy to elect a pro-life president in 2016 and advance the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This legislation would stop abortion after five months. Stanek witnessed babies around this age struggle for life after they had been abandoned following a failed abortion.
“Having watched then-State Senator Barack Obama vote four times to deny equal protections for children born alive during an abortion, Jill understands better than most the disastrous consequences of poor political leadership on the unborn,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony List. “No one could be better suited to bring our message about the importance of electing strong pro-life leaders to diverse audiences across the country. Her work as an ambassador for SBA List will amplify our message and grow our strength and numbers exponentially.”
Stanek is a longtime friend of SBA List and previously partnered with the group in the 2012 election cycle to expose President Obama’s abortion extremism.
“I witnessed live children born alive after abortion procedures more than halfway through pregnancy. These children suffered painful deaths and my encounter with each of them compels me to take part in this debate,” said Jill Stanek. “I firmly believe that electing pro-life leaders is the best way to enact authentic, lifesaving laws and am honored to join the Susan B. Anthony List team.”
The Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $16.71 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office.
