Biden Admin’s VA Rule Illegally Funds Abortions With Taxpayer Dollars
Washington, D.C. – A coalition of nearly 50 pro-life groups spearheaded by Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America sent a letter to the U.S. House and Senate expressing concern that a $71 million increase in taxpayer funding to the Office of Women’s Health at the Department of Veterans Affairs will be used illegally to fund abortions.
Since 1992, the Department of Veterans Affairs has been statutorily prohibited from using taxpayer dollars for abortion. In September, the Biden administration ignored this longstanding prohibition and issued a new rule that funds abortion for undefined and presumably broad “health” reasons.
SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser commented:
“The pro-abortion Biden administration consistently prioritizes abortion on demand until birth, paid for by taxpayers, over authentic women’s health care. In pushing their radical agenda, they blatantly ignore both state and federal laws that save countless lives. We urge Congress to ensure that taxpayer dollars meant to support the health and well-being of our women veterans are used only for that purpose, not to promote the killing of unborn children.”
Pro-life laws enacted in two dozen states could potentially save as many as 200,000 lives a year after the Dobbs decision.
The coalition letter reads in part:
Women veterans deserve quality life-affirming medical care. Instead, the VA has prioritized abortion extremism by investing in an illegal scheme to provide abortions at veterans’ health facilities in violation of both state and federal law. Unless the abortion IFR is withdrawn, a portion of increased funding for the Office of Women’s Health will be used to underwrite the transformation of veterans’ health facilities into abortion centers.

This blatant disregard for the law and the will of the people is just one in a series of efforts by the current administration to appease the demands of the radical abortion lobby. The administration is flagrantly disregarding federal law in their rush to impose abortion on demand until birth at taxpayer expense throughout all fifty states. Now, Congress must consider whether to reward these actions with more hard-earned taxpayer dollars.
