Washington, D.C. – Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) celebrated as its endorsed candidates John James, Candius Stearns, and Lena Epstein advanced to the general election for U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives for the 9th and 11th Congressional Districts, respectively.

“We congratulate John James, Candius Stearns, and Lena Epstein on advancing in their primaries and look forward to seeing them elected to Congress,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser.

“Candius Stearns is deeply committed to policies that protect innocent human life. She will fight for unborn children and their mothers and give the pro-life taxpayers of Michigan a much-needed voice in Washington.

“Lena Epstein is a strong pro-life, pro-woman leader who has the courage to take on the extreme abortion lobby. She will stand up for the most vulnerable and work to advance President Trump’s pro-life agenda.”

SBA List Chairman of the Board Jane Abraham said, “John James is a principled, unabashedly pro-life leader. His passion and eloquence in defending the unborn will make him a strong addition to the Senate at this historic moment for our cause.”

After graduating from West Point in 2004, John James became a Ranger-qualified aviation officer. John served in Operation Iraqi Freedom where he logged 753.8 combat flight hours leading two Apache platoons. After eight years of service to the nation, James returned to Michigan to work in the family business: James Group International.

Candius Stearns is a businesswoman with more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. She has served as an executive committee member and a treasurer for the Macomb County GOP. Candius is a wife and mother of two boys.

Lena Epstein, a graduate of Harvard University and the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, is a third-generation co-owner of southeast Michigan-based Vesco Oil Corporation. In 2016 she co-chaired the Donald Trump Michigan Presidential Campaign. She and her husband have a newborn daughter.

Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, visiting more than 1.1 million homes in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. SBA List is a network of more than 630,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
