Pro-life Lt. Gov. Dan Forest Seeks Re-Election in Competitive Race
Washington, D.C. – Today, the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced its endorsement of Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest, running for re-election in North Carolina.
North Carolina is an SBA List stronghold with more than 14,000 members statewide and a field team of nearly 200 canvassers who have already knocked on more than 265,800 doors this cycle.
“We are proud to support Dan in this race,” said SBA List president Marjorie Dannenfelser, a North Carolina native. “I know Dan and know he will work hard to save innocent lives. His opponent Linda Coleman has been endorsed by EMILY’s List and is opposed to even the most reasonable pro-life initiatives, like legislation to limit late-term abortions more than halfway through pregnancy. In a crucial battleground state like North Carolina, it is imperative to re-elect pro-life stalwarts like Dan Forest who will stand up to the radical abortion lobby. Our field team has been active in North Carolina for months, and we are confident the voters will reject Linda Coleman’s extremism and recognize the champion they have in Dan Forest.”
Lt. Gov. Forest welcomed the endorsement saying, “It is truly an honor to be endorsed by Susan B. Anthony List. I believe strongly in the sanctity of life, and I have had the privilege of seeing many pro-life bills passed during my time in office. I am committed to standing up for the most vulnerable among us.”
Forest is the first Republican to be elected as Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina in over 20 years. He also serves as president of the North Carolina Senate and is a voting member of the State Board of Education. He is the former board chairman of Wake Forest Pregnancy Support Service and an active community, business, and faith leader. He lives in Raleigh with his wife Alice and their four children.
Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $16.71 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
