North Carolina Ground Team Has Already Knocked More than 200,000 Doors across the State
Washington, D.C. — Today, the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced its endorsement of U.S. Senator Richard Burr, running for re-election in North Carolina.
North Carolina is an SBA List stronghold with more than 14,000 members statewide and a field team of 211 canvassers who have already knocked on more than 212,800 doors this cycle.
“Sen. Richard Burr is a longtime ally of the pro-life movement who has consistently voted to protect unborn children and their mothers,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser, a North Carolina native. “Our field team has already been active for months, talking to voters across the state about the importance of voting pro-life in the upcoming election. Sen. Burr’s opponent Deborah Ross has been endorsed by EMILY’s List, which opposes even the most modest pro-life initiatives, like legislation to limit late-term abortions after five months, more than halfway through pregnancy. Deborah Ross would work for the abortion lobby, not North Carolinians. That’s why we’re working so hard to ensure this seat stays pro-life. We are proud to endorse Sen. Burr’s reelection bid.”
Sen. Burr welcomed the endorsement saying, “I am grateful to Susan B. Anthony List for their endorsement and the work they do in North Carolina and across the country to advance the pro-life cause. I look forward to the opportunity to continue to protect life in the Senate.”
Sen. Burr served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1995-2005 and is serving his second term in the U.S. Senate.
During the 2014 election cycle, SBA List knocked on a total of 153,000 doors and made 246,000 live phone calls to defeat then-Senator Kay Hagan, an abortion advocate. In total, SBA List spent $1.9 million in North Carolina in 2014, and plans to make similar investments during the 2016 cycle.
The Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $16.71 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
