Washington, D.C. – This morning the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) released the following statement in support of U.S. Senator Joni Ernst:
“Senator Ernst’s strength and courage are an inspiration,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Sen. Ernst is an independent thinker whose leadership combines empathy for the most vulnerable with principled commitment to fairness and justice, both of which are sorely needed in Congress. Attacks on her record of standing up for unborn children and their mothers and voting to confirm President Trump’s Supreme Court nominees, which reflect the will of her constituents and most Americans, are inappropriate and only increase our resolve to see this pro-life, pro-woman leader re-elected. We are proud to support Joni and our admiration, respect, and prayers are with her.”
Joni Ernst was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2014 after serving in the Iowa Senate. She is the first woman to represent Iowa in Congress and the first female combat veteran elected to the Senate. She was the lead sponsor of legislation to redirect tax dollars away from Planned Parenthood in the wake of shocking undercover videos exposing their role in the harvest and sale of aborted baby body parts. She has sponsored many pro-life bills including legislation to protect unborn children from late-term abortions after five months of pregnancy and to stop taxpayer funding of the abortion industry. She received SBA List’s Distinguished Leader Award in 2015 and was the keynote speaker at SBA List’s annual Campaign for Life Gala in 2016.
SBA List is a network of more than 700,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
