Washington, D.C. – In response to news that Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business, has chosen Dr. Leana Wen as the organization’s next president, the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) released the following statement:
“Planned Parenthood’s selection of a doctor to be their next president is an opportunity to clean up their sorry record,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Planned Parenthood is America’s largest abortion business with 35 percent of the national abortion market. In 2016, according to their latest annual report, abortions made up 96 percent of Planned Parenthood’s services for resolving a pregnancy while prenatal services, miscarriage care, and adoption referrals together made up less than 4 percent. They specialize in ending the lives of unborn children, not offering lifesaving health care. Community health alternatives that do provide comprehensive care for women and families – not abortion – outnumber Planned Parenthood facilities by at least 20 to one nationwide. The best thing Dr. Wen could do for Planned Parenthood is to help them live up to their claim of being an authentic women’s health care provider.”
Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, visiting more than 1.1 million homes in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. SBA List is a network of more than 689,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
