Dannenfelser: “They will pay for their abortion extremism at the ballot box this November”
Washington, D.C. – Today U.S. Senate Democrats filibustered the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, legislation to stop painful late-term abortions and infanticide. SBA List issued the following statement in response:
“Today Democrats continued their abortion extremism, filibustering bills to stop painful late-term abortions and infanticide. They will pay for their abortion extremism at the ballot box this November,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “SBA List is working tirelessly across battleground states to educate key voters – including pro-life Democrats – about these issues to persuade them to vote pro-life. We believe this will provide President Trump and the pro-life Senate majority the margin of victory come November. Given the popularity of these bills and the heavy political losses Democrats will continue to suffer by opposing them, it is only a matter of time until they become law.”
SBA List’s National Campaign Chair Jill Stanek, a former nurse who witnessed babies born alive and left to die after failed abortions, added:
“I witnessed firsthand babies being born alive and left to die. Doctors and nurses who treat babies in-utero and those born extremely premature see these children as a second patient, administering anesthesia for surgery, and constantly developing newer and more effective ways to care for the tiniest humans. It is appalling to see Democrats move in the opposite direction and vote against compassionate, common sense bills, including one that simply requires medical care for born children.”
Leading up to the vote, SBA List targeted vulnerable Senators Doug Jones (D-AL) and Gary Peters (D-MI) in a series of op-eds and digital ads. Both Sens. Jones and Peters voted against the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, with Sen. Jones calling the Pain-Capable bill “stupid” last week. Sen. Jones voted for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, while Sen. Peters voted against it. The full roll call votes will be posted here.
In January, SBA list launched a comprehensive campaign effort to re-elect President Trump and the pro-life Senate majority. Part of an overall $52 million budget for the cycle, the effort includes boots on the ground, voter contact mail, phone calls, and digital ads. SBA list canvassers have already visited over half a million voters in key battleground states, educating them about the extremism of the Democrats on abortion.
SBA List is a network of more than 837,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
