As the Daily Caller reported, during the debate over the 2011 budget, New York Rep. Louise Slaughter spoke to a crowd of abortion advocates and railed against a proposal to strip Planned Parenthood of its federal funding. Instead of simply disagreeing, Rep. Slaughter argued that the proposal’s pro-life backers are “here to kill women.”
As if that reasoning were not flawed enough, Rep. Slaughter continued by surmising, “You are allowed to have an abortion if you’ve been raped or it’s a matter of incest. However, you have to keep a receipt. Did you know that? It’s sort of like an old German Nazi movement: show me your papers.”
Not only were Rep. Slaughter’s statements highly inaccurate, they also crossed the line of decency in public discourse. Ultimately, her constituents and the American people are left asking, “Who is she calling extremist?”
