Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity

This past Tuesday, thousands of students gave up their voices for the unborn as part of the annual Pro-life Day of Silent Solidarity. In its 7th  year, the event was another great success. Student participants normally place a piece of red duct tape with the word “Life” over their mouth, and pass out flyers explaining their actions.

According to Bryan Kemper, the founder of this pro-life event, at least 31 babies were saved on Tuesday. This is a great victory alone, but beyond it, is the impression these students made on their peers & school administrators through their silent courage.

As reported by Lifesitenews.com, one pro-life student wrote that her classmates told her she was wasting her time, and one girl even threw the flyer back at her. Yet when the pro-life student walked away, she noticed the girl had picked up the flyer. Later on, the pro-life student said “I saw her but her eyes were puffy, then she hugged me and said I was making a huge difference to a lot of girls, and that she was scheduled for an abortion later this week and that she will cancel it.”

This story is only one of several examples of the power of silent courage. This one day of silence gives only a glimpse of the difference being made by these students. As Kristin Hawkins, Executive Director of Students for Life put it, “This is the pro-life generation, and they are making a difference on their campuses every day.
