Susan B. Anthony List and Florida Family Policy Council Will Host Rally April 3 at the Historic Capitol in Tallahassee

Washington, D.C. – Grassroots activists led by the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) and the Florida Family Policy Council will hold a rally Wednesday, April 3 at 11:00 a.m. on the front steps of the Historic Capitol in Tallahassee to support two pro-life bills that have been introduced in the 2019 session of the Florida legislature.

The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, legislation to stop late-term abortions after five months of pregnancy – a point when science shows unborn children can feel pain – has been introduced in the Florida legislature by Senator Joe Gruters and Representative Tommy Gregory (SB 0558 and HB 1345, respectively).

Senator Kelli Stargel and Representative Erin Grall have introduced a bill (SB 1774 and HB 1335) that would require a minor obtain parental consent in order to get an abortion. The bill would also increase the penalty for the crime of infanticide from a first-degree misdemeanor to a third-degree felony.

Speakers at the rally will include former Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, SBA List’s Vice President of Government Affairs; Bill Bunkley, president of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, Inc.; Representative Mel Ponder, Representative Tommy Gregory and Representative Erin Grall.

Polling released last month by SBA List shows that three in four Florida voters – including large majorities of Democrats, Independents, women, and self-described pro-choice voters – support the legislation.

SBA List is a network of more than 700,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
