Washington, D.C. – Unborn children and their mothers are still protected in Kentucky after Planned Parenthood and EMW Women’s Surgical Center moved for voluntary dismissal of their challenge to Kentucky’s Human Life Protection Act.
Earlier this year, the Kentucky Supreme Court kept the Human Life Protection Act in effect and sent this case back to the lower courts for further review, stating that abortion businesses do not have an unlimited ability to file lawsuits on behalf of the public.
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America celebrated by saying:
“We celebrate this win for Kentucky women and children and thank Attorney General Daniel Cameron for being a tireless defender of the unborn and for zealously defending Kentucky’s pro-life laws,” said Sue Liebel, director of state affairs and Midwest regional director for SBA Pro-Life America. “The Human Life Protection Act, along with the Humanity in Healthcare Act that was upheld in federal court last week, make Kentucky one of the strongest pro-life states.”
Katie Daniel, state policy director for SBA Pro-Life America added:
“A year ago, the U.S. Supreme Court returned lawmaking authority to the people through their elected representatives. Kentuckians have repeatedly enacted laws that protect babies from their earliest moments, and these laws should govern the Commonwealth.”
SBA Pro-Life America’s Candidate Fund has endorsed Daniel Cameron for governor of Kentucky.
One year after the Dobbs decision, 24 states have laws protecting life between conception and 12 weeks. SBA Pro-Life America is tracking life-saving laws in the states and the estimated number of abortions impacted. Â
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America is a network of more than one million pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
