In a powerful show of unity in Washington, D.C., the pro-life movement boldly made their voice heard and called for Congress to take action. Hundreds of pro-life advocates, including students, grassroots supporters, and pro-life leaders from across the country, converged on Capitol Hill to demand that our hard-earned tax dollars no longer go to the abortion industry.
What made this lobby day so unique and impactful was a broad coalition of more than 150 organizations coming together with one voice. The coalition included groups from every part of the pro-life movement, from faith-based organizations to secular groups, economic organizations, law firms, and more—all united by one goal: to stop taxpayer funding of Big Abortion. One of the leaders of this historic gathering was Katie Daniel, SBA’s director of legal affairs and policy counsel. As one of the lead organizers for SBA, Katie was essential in pulling together these diverse pro-life groups and ensuring that their voices were heard loud and clear.
As Katie explains, “The strength of this movement lies in its commitment to a common cause: ensuring that American tax dollars no longer fund the abortion industry. This unity fuels our efforts to protect mothers and babies, and it’s this collective resolve that gives us the strength to keep pushing for change.”
One critical aspect of our Lobby Day was the coalition letter we sent to Congress, signed by pro-life organizations from all 50 states. Katie explains that this was an important part of the strategy—having signers from every state matters because it shows members of Congress that this is not just a DC issue, but something that their constituents care about. When representatives see that organizations from their state are backing the call to defund Big Abortion, it sends a powerful message. This letter wasn’t just a statement—it was a call to action from across the country, with organizations from every state coming together to demand that taxpayer dollars stop funding abortionists like Planned Parenthood.
The strength of this movement isn’t just seen in the numbers of people participating—it’s seen in the power of the message: Defund Big Abortion. As Katie pointed out, while the media may try to portray division within the pro-life community, Lobby Day showed the exact opposite. We are more unified than ever before, and our collective voice is sending a clear message to Congress: We are committed to ending our government’s financial support for the abortion industry.
This unity is reflected in the collaboration of leaders from across the movement, like SBA President Marjorie Dannenfelser and Melissa Ohden, founder of The Abortion Survivors Network. They spoke about the issue together in this video shared on X:
“There is no reason this country should be giving one penny to this horrible organization.”

Katie’s leadership, along with SBA’s vision and the support of our coalition partners, has positioned the pro-life movement to make real, meaningful change. The success of Lobby Day was not just about the numbers; it was about sending a clear and unmistakable message to Congress. The pro-life movement is here to stay, and we will not rest until Big Abortion is defunded and every life is protected.
