New Law Protects Unborn Babies Throughout Pregnancy, Saving as Many as 3,800 Lives a Year
Washington, D.C. – The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) celebrated as Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt (R) signed the Life at Conception Act (B. 4327) to protect unborn children and women from abortion throughout pregnancy. The bill was sponsored by Sen. Julie Daniels (a member of SBA List’s National Pro-Life Caucus) and Rep. Wendi Stearman.
Stitt is keeping his promise to sign every pro-life bill that reaches his desk.
SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser praised Stitt and Oklahoma lawmakers, saying:
“Governor Stitt and the Oklahoma Legislature have delivered the biggest win yet for unborn children and their mothers. By protecting unborn babies throughout pregnancy, as many as 3,800 lives a year may be saved. In contrast to the Democratic Party’s extreme agenda of abortion on demand until birth, Oklahoma is standing strong for women and children and empowering families with the support they need to choose life. We are grateful to Gov. Stitt and all our local pro-life allies for their courage, and we hope that if the draft Dobbs decision holds, more states will act swiftly on the will of their people.”
Stitt has previously safeguarded human life by signing the Heartbeat Act, legislation to stop dangerous mail-order abortion drugs, and many others.
Alternatives to Abortion: Oklahoma’s Choosing Childbirth Program, established in 2017, supports pregnancy centers by providing grants for services such as ultrasounds, medical exams, counseling, parenting classes, maternity care and more.
SBA List is a network of 900,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.Â
