National Pro-life Group Encourages Senate Republicans to Hold Firm, Protect the Court

Washington, D.C.  – This morning the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List called on the U.S. Senate to maintain their strong resolution to hold on the Supreme Court confirmation process.

SBA List president Marjorie Dannenfelser offered the following reaction to President Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland to the U.S. Supreme Court:

“This changes nothing. We do not know this nominee but we do know Barack Obama. Anyone he nominates will join the voting bloc on the Court that consistently upholds abortion on-demand. The President should not be permitted one last opportunity to stack the Court with pro-abortion Justices.

“Appointing Justices to the Supreme Court is a shared responsibility between the President and Senate. We thank Leader McConnell and Senator Grassley for standing firm in their resolution to hold the confirmation process until we have a new president. Susan B. Anthony List is immediately mobilizing our pro-life grassroots across the country to stand strong with them. The next Supreme Court pick belongs to the President elected by the people in November.”

Tomorrow Susan B. Anthony List and a pro-life coalition will launch Protect the Court, a national grassroots mobilization campaign to encourage the U.S. Senate to hold on the confirmation process.

The Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $16.71 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
