The March for Life is the largest pro-life demonstration in the world, bringing together thousands of passionate supporters along with some of the most influential pro-life voices and policymakers in America to celebrate and advocate for life. This year’s March was especially significant as we celebrated the many recent pro-life victories, including key election wins and President Trump’s pardoning of pro-life protesters. This year, SBA proudly participated in the March to celebrate these victories and look forward with optimism to the future of the pro-life movement.
Upon arriving at the March near the iconic Washington Monument, our team distributed signs calling for policymakers to ‘Defund Planned Parenthood’ – a top priority for SBA and the pro-life movement in 2025 – and conducted interviews with attendees to learn why they march. Time and again, we heard excitement about turning the page on the harmful abortion policies of the Biden-Harris administration, along with a sense of hope that the new administration would set things right. As the rally kicked off, an opening band energized the crowd, setting the stage for a series of powerful speeches from prominent pro-life leaders and policymakers.
A dynamic lineup of pro-life champions, all good friends and allies of SBA, spoke about the fight for life in the year and years ahead.
House Majority Leader Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader took the stage first to roaring applause, declaring that under their leadership, Congress will prioritize the protection of life, ensuring that every person, made in the image of God, has an inherent right to life.
The March for Life also featured a heartfelt speech by Hannah Lape, a former SBA intern and the current President of Wheaton College’s Voice for Life group. Hannah, who was the youngest speaker at the event, had a special role: her group led the March by carrying the official March for Life banner. In her speech, she challenged the abortion industry, saying, “If they truly cared about women, they would stop pushing dangerous abortion drugs and start offering life-affirming care instead.” She ended with a call to action, declaring that the pro-life generation will not rest until every abortion facility closes its doors, and until every child is protected from abortion.
The pre-March rally reached its peak with President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance delivering powerful messages. President Trump, speaking via video, celebrated his pardoning of pro-life prisoners wrongfully detained under the Biden, and pledged to both defend life in his second term, and end the weaponization of government against pro-life and religious protestors.
Following President Trump’s message, Vice President Vance, making his first public appearance since taking office, took the stage to emphasize the need for a stronger pro-life, pro-family culture in America. He stressed that the new administration would focus on better supporting families and ensuring that more children grow up in thriving, happy homes. Both of their appearances reinforced the Trump-Vance administration’s commitment to protecting life and supporting families, signaling a strong future for the pro-life movement.
