The 38th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion inspired several stories in national and political outlets including ABCNews.com, CBSNews.com and The Hill mentioning Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) President Marjorie Dannenfelser’s first annual State of the Unborn Address.  Directed at the pro-life grassroots, the video address cited increasing popular and political support in its call to capitalize on the “momentum” building behind current pro-life legislation.  Blogger Dave Weigel caught up with Marjorie at the March for Life on the National Mall, noting her positive outlook on getting lifesaving legislation passed in the new pro-life House: “We have 17 pro-life women.  I can’t remember ever having so many.  And I count each one of them as three members!”

Throughout the week, several other national and Christian news outlets echoed the growing sense of momentum within the pro-life movement, with the Baptist Press newswire repeating Marjorie’s predictions in her State of the Unborn address: “The new pro-life House leadership has shown it is dedicated to translating this public opinion into real public policy that saves lives and ends taxpayer funding of abortion.”

Late in the afternoon on Friday, Mike Pence formally announced his decision not to run for President in 2012, leaving the door open for a Senatorial bid.  Marjorie, who was quoted in previous Gannett Wire stories praising Pence’s pro-life credentials, was quoted in the Indiana state paper that broke the news, saying “What I most want is for him to have a long future.  So I’m sure that he’s made a discernment that this is the right move.”
