JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri pro-abortionist activists filed 11 ballot measures for 2024 with the Secretary of State’s Office today to eliminate the state’s protections for unborn life.
Some of the measures explicitly allow abortion up until the moment of birth and do not allow parental consent. Others appear to permit the legislature to have a role in restrictions at viability or 24 weeks, but include broad exceptions to make abortion widely available even in non-emergency situations.
SBA Pro-Life America’s State Affairs Director Sue Liebel shared her reaction:
“Unborn babies are under attack in Missouri, and so are parental rights and women’s health. Though each measure may appear slightly different, the shared outcome is they will end lives and erase protections for life in Missouri.
“These ballot measures are meant to deceive in order to radically transform Missouri into an abortion-on-demand state. Missouri is a pro-life state and this extremism won’t stand with the people.”
Missouri currently protects life at conception and provides an exception for medical emergency. This legislative session, pro-life lawmakers are advancing bills to help pregnant women and new moms by extending postpartum Medicaid coverage, creating a tax deduction for unborn children and improving access to childcare.
