SBA List Candidate Fund Endorses Joe Heck in NV-03

WASHINGTON, DC – Today the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced its endorsement of Joe Heck, candidate for U.S. Representative in Nevada’s 3rd congressional district.

“SBA List is proud to support Joe Heck for Nevada’s 3rd District.  Heck has expressed a strong commitment to representing a physician’s voice in Congress and to rescinding taxpayer-funded abortion in the federal health care legislation.  Ironically, he represents women’s real views and needs on the issue of abortion far better than does his female opponent,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA List Candidate Fund.

“Incumbent Rep. Dina Titus (D-NV) is a clear example of what the pro-life majority in America does not need in office.  She has voted consistently to fund abortion providers in Nevada and supported the health care reform bill that included taxpayer-funded abortion.”

The Susan B. Anthony List has already made Nevada a high priority state, spending nearly $144,000 to educate voters about Senator Harry Reid’s vote in favor of a health care bill that included taxpayer-funded abortion and supporting his pro-life opponent Sharron Angle.

Also a consistent pro-life advocate, Heck served as State Senator for Nevada’s 5th District from 2004 to 2008.  He is also a physician, Army Reservist and an active community volunteer, serving with the Knights of Columbus Council 13456, the American Legion Paradise Post 149 and the Catholic War Veterans Post 1947.  His recognized medical background includes the Manthei Award for Leadership and Dedication in the Advocacy of the Osteopathic Profession from the Nevada Osteopathic Medical Association among other awards.

His opponent, incumbent Rep. Alice Costandina “Dina” Titus, has consistently voted in favor of taxpayer-funded abortion and has received a 0 percent NRLC rating in the 111th Congress.  Titus has been endorsed by EMILY’s List, a political organization committed to electing Democratic women candidates who support abortion rights.

Joe Heck will face Congresswoman Titus in the November general election.

The Susan B. Anthony List plans to spend $6 million on voter education in the midterm elections, including $3 million on key Senate races.  The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of over 280,000 Americans, residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics.  Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
