Washington, DC ─ Today the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced its endorsement of Steve Daines in Montana’s At-Large Congressional District. Congressman Denny Rehberg, who has held this seat since 2001, is running for U.S. Senate.

“The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund is proud to endorse Steve Daines for Congress. He is an articulate and dedicated pro-life candidate—and we look forward to his victory over abortion advocate Kim Gillan in November,” said SBA List Candidate Fund President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “While in the Montana state legislature Kim Gillan failed to represent the true interests of Montana women and families by voting against every pro-life bill – even common sense parental notification measures.

“As a husband and a father of four with lifelong experience in business and political activism, Steve will be a much-needed voice for pro-life taxpayers in Washington. Steve Daines understands the devastating impact that the pro-abortion health care reform law will have on women and unborn children – as well as the conscience rights of individuals in the health care industry and beyond. He has campaigned tenaciously to stop it in Montana.”

Mr. Daines, who won the Montana Republican primary with 71 percent of the vote, has been endorsed by Right to Life of Montana, National Federation of Independent Business, Montana Chamber of Commerce, Gun Owners of America, and Congressman Denny Rehberg.

Former Montana state senator Kim Gillan has been endorsed by NARAL Pro-Choice America, Women’s Campaign Fund. Ms. Gillan has been a longtime advocate of abortion. While serving in the Montana state legislature, she opposed efforts to stop taxpayer funding of abortion and abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood.

The Susan B. Anthony List, and its connected Political Action Committee, the SBA List Candidate Fund, are dedicated to electing candidates and pursuing policies that will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List will emphasize the election, education, promotion, and mobilization of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
