Sen. McCain Will Fight for Women and Children

Washington, D.C. – Today, the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced its endorsement of U.S. Senator John McCain, running for re-election in Arizona.

“Senator McCain has a consistent record of protecting women and unborn children,” said SBA List president Marjorie Dannenfelser. He is a vocal supporter of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would limit abortions after five months, and which is supported by over 60 percent of the American people. Sen. McCain’s opponent, Ann Kirkpatrick, is a pro-abortion radical in the mold of Hillary Clinton. She wants to force taxpayers to fund abortion on-demand and opposes even the most modest pro-life reforms, including a limit on late-term abortion after five months – more than halfway through pregnancy. Ann Kirkpatrick will work for the abortion lobby, not Arizona women and families. We are proud to endorse Sen. McCain’s reelection bid and look forward to his victory in November.”

Sen. McCain was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986 after serving two terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. He co-sponsored the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban. He voted for the Unborn Victims of Violence Act and for parental notification, and has consistently voted against expanding taxpayer funding of abortion.

Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $15.25 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
