Washington, D.C. –  Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced its endorsement of Representative Dave Brat for re-election in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District.

“We are proud to endorse Congressman Dave Brat, a principled pro-life champion and a strong ally in Washington,” said former congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, SBA List’s Vice President of Government Affairs. “Dave is a leader in the fight to end horrific late-term abortions, stop taxpayer funding of abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood, and defend the conscience rights of pro-life health care workers. While his opponent, Abigail Spanberger, is an extremist backed by the radical pro-abortion group EMILY’s List, Rep. Brat can be counted on to stand up to the abortion lobby and protect unborn children and their mothers. We urge pro-life Virginians to re-elect him this November.”

Rep. Brat has served the 7th Congressional District since 2014. Previously, he was a consultant for the World Bank and was chair of the economics department at Randolph-Macon College. Rep. Brat has co-sponsored numerous pro-life bills including the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, the Defund Planned Parenthood Act, the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, and the Conscience Protection Act. He and his wife Laura have two children and reside in Henrico County.

Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, visiting more than 1.1 million homes in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. SBA List is a network of more than 689,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
