Former Congressional Pro-life Caucus Director Brings Extensive Experience to Top Pro-life Political & Lobbying Team
Washington, DC – Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced today that public policy expert Autumn Christensen has joined the organization’s Government Affairs team as Policy Director. In this role, she will advance SBA List’s pro-life policy goals within the Executive branch, as well as in the House and Senate.
Christensen has 15 years of Capitol Hill experience with domestic and global health issues. She previously served as Director of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus in the House of Representatives for over a decade. She played a key role helping members of Congress develop pro-life legislation including the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
“Our Government Affairs team is expanding at a moment of strength for the pro-life movement when we have a pro-life President and Congress,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Autumn’s experience and policy expertise adds major fire power to our team as we seek to make historic legislative and policy gains for unborn children and their mothers.”
“When I served as a Member of Congress, Autumn was the go-to person when anything about the life issue came up,” said former Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, SBA List Vice President of Government Affairs. “She brings invaluable expertise to the SBA List Government Affairs team as we expand our lobby efforts to the federal level.”
“It is a great privilege to join Marjorie, Marilyn and the entire Susan B. Anthony List team at this important juncture in the struggle for the rights of the unborn,” said Christensen. “The coming years bring significant opportunities to advance life-saving policies that protect babies and their moms. SBA List, along with the Charlotte Lozier Institute, is remarkably positioned as a leading voice for life and serves as a resource to both the Administration and the Congress. It is an honor to join in this valuable work.”
“As the director of the Congressional Pro-Life Caucus, Autumn has earned the respect and confidence of pro-life leaders across the country and has helped shape nearly every pro-life initiative in the House of Representatives for more than a decade,” said Representative Chris Smith, Co-Chair of the House Pro-life Caucus and Christensen’s former boss. “She is an expert in legislative strategy and coalition building who will continue to use her unique combination of skills, dedication, tenacity, ingenuity and compassion to advance the culture of life and protect women and children from abortion.”
Christensen also has extensive experience analyzing major health care legislation and assessing the impact on pro-life policies. Examples include the Affordable Care Act, annual appropriations bills, budget reconciliations, and reauthorizations of the Child Health Insurance Program and PEPFAR (President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief).
Christensen graduated from Covenant College of Lookout Mountain, Georgia with degrees in business and history. She and her husband live in Washington, D.C. with their son.
Susan B. Anthony List and its connected super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, knocking on more than 1.1 million doors in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. Â The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
