WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Susan B. Anthony List announced the launch of a $150,000 independent expenditure campaign highlighting the pro-life leadership of Kelly Ayotte, endorsed Republican primary candidate for the U.S. Senate in New Hampshire. The SBA List campaign includes $50,000 in radio ads, $50,000 in Google web ads and $50,000 in voter mobilization efforts leading up to the Tuesday, September 14th primary.
âKelly Ayotteâs heroic efforts at the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed the constitutionality of 37 parental involvement laws on the books across the nation that help protect children from abortion,â SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser said. âShe showed courageous leadership when she stood up for New Hampshire parents and fought to protect young girls from abortion despite facing a hostile environment fueled by a Democratic governor and unfriendly state legislature.â
âAyotte made a judgment call that potentially saved New Hampshire taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars by complying with a court order to pay the legal fees of Planned Parenthood,â Dannenfelser said referencing a court-ordered settlement to refund the legal fees of Planned Parenthood following a repeal of the parental notification law by the state legislature. âHad Ayotte appealed, it is likely that the higher court would have ruled against her, resulting in taxpayer dollars going to pay even more Planned Parenthood legal fees.â
âBut the most compelling case that Ayotte is the right candidate for pro-life voters comes from the judgment of local respected leaders who have endorsed Ayotte such as those at New Hampshire Citizens for Life who have been watching and working with Ayotte for years, including during the fight for parental rights. New Hampshire pro-life leaders back Kelly Ayotte because they know she will be a friend, ally and pro-life heroine as their next Senator, especially in the fight to protect tax dollars from funding Planned Parenthood.â
New Hampshire Citizens for Life Vice President Roger Stenson added that âKelly Ayotte heroically defended the New Hampshire Parental Notice law when she became Attorney General. Kelly stood up for the parents of New Hampshire against her own Governor and against the new Democrat majority in both houses of the Legislature. She took the heat for doing the right thing and she took a lot of heat. It was Ayotteâs argument that got the United States Supreme Court to unanimously âvacateâ the decisions of the lower courts and âremandâ the case for correction by the lower court. That was a victory for New Hampshire and a loss for Democrats who want to do secret abortions on minor girls.â
