Pro-life Voters Key to Defeating President Obama in November
Washington, DC ─ Today, after the announcement by Senator Rick Santorum that he is suspending his presidential campaign, the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List), a national pro-life organization thanked the Senator for his efforts and vowed to continue working to defeat President Obama in November.
“With great vision and passion, Rick Santorum reached the hearts of pro-life voters and allowed them to show the strength of their voting bloc,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA List. “The Susan B. Anthony List is proud to have mobilized those key voters.”

Throughout the primary election, exit polling revealed Santorum’s strong pro-life position gave him a 4 to 10 percentage point advantage among all primary voters. Historically, the high number of pro-life voters combined with voter intensity makes the Life issue critical in elections because of the effect pro-life voters can have on majority making.
The SBA List spent more than $500,000 on an independent expenditure campaign including a bus tour mobilization effort which rallied pro-life voters across seven states in support of Santorum’s presidential candidacy. The SBA List’s “Rick Bus,” led by former Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, traversed Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Illinois rallying pro-life women and social conservative voters to support Santorum in those key primaries. The entire SBA List campaign also included a $350,000 radio ad campaign in Ohio and Michigan.
The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of more than 365,000 Americans dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics. Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
