SBA List President will join Sen. Graham & Pro-life Leaders for Press Conference

Washington, D.C.  – Tomorrow morning, June 11, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) will hold a press conference to introduce the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act in the U.S. Senate. Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) will join Senator Graham and other pro-life leaders in support of the bill to protect children after five months – more than halfway through pregnancy when the baby can feel pain.  Acknowledging this concern, fetal surgeons routinely anesthetize their small patients before surgery.

“Right now in our country, a child can be killed in his or her mother’s womb for any reason, at any point, up until the moment of birth. We are one of only seven nations in the world, including China and North Korea, to allow such brutality. We are a better nation than this,” said SBA List president Marjorie Dannenfelser.

“We are grateful to Senator Lindsey Graham for his strategic leadership and for his tenacity in moving this legislation forward,” continued Dannenfelser. “Nobody better understands the strategic and moral importance of this human rights debate.”

A longtime pro-life leader, Senator Graham has championed numerous pro-life bills in Congress, including the Unborn Victims of Violence Act. Last April, Sen. Graham gave the keynote address at SBA List’s annual Campaign for Life Gala.

Previously, national polling by Quinnipiac, National Journal, Huffington Post, NBC/Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post/ABC News all found that a plurality or majority of Americans support limiting abortion after five months and that women support the measure in higher proportions than men.

The Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $15.25 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
