Virginia Voters Rejected Pro-Abortion Extremism in 2021 Elections

Washington, D.C. – Today Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares announced the Commonwealth’s support for Mississippi in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a case in which the Supreme Court will address the constitutionality of pre-viability limits on abortion.

SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser praised the Youngkin administration, saying:

“Elections matter – from pro-infanticide Governor Ralph Northam to the new administration of pro-life Governor Glenn Youngkin, the contrast is night and day. Virginia voters spoke clearly when they rejected pro-abortion extremist Terry McAuliffe and elected Youngkin. The overwhelming majority of Americans support significant limits on abortion that aren’t allowed under the Supreme Court’s status quo. Virginians and the people of every state deserve to have their voices heard on this pivotal issue and to have their consensus reflected in the law.”

In the 2021 election, SBA List’s partner, Women Speak Out Virginia – 2021, launched a $1.4 million campaign to defeat McAuliffe and support Youngkin, along with key pro-life candidates in House delegate races. The independent expenditure campaign included
hard-hitting digital ads and voter contact mail to persuadable as well as pro-life voters who don’t consistently vote.

Governor Youngkin has outlined his pro-life policy commitments, which include advocating legislation to limit late-term abortions when unborn children can feel pain and working to stop taxpayer-funded abortions.

SBA List is a network of 900,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
